How to closed caption your your videos for a SEO Boost! {video}

As you can probably tell, I’m taking video very seriously this year. After digging around and learning a bit about video SEO, I read and heard over and over again – “closed captions are great for SEO”

Would love for you to comment below and tell me, do you use closed captions for your videos? Have you seen a spike in views?

Happy Monday :)

Nice job Vicky !

I was wondering how much time you spend writing captions for this video .

Hey Ilias! Hm…I never timed it. About 10 to 15 minutes. It’s definitely a time investment but I am seeing it pay off so I will keep on doing it :) A friend of mine told me that you can type up the captions in YouTube as well, but I imagine it will take a bit longer :)

Great stuff Vicky, If you have a transcript of what you said you can just upload it to YouTube, and it will use speach recognition software to time stamp and match the text to video.
Or you can use one of the many time caption file formats. I also believe this is very good for SEO’ing your video.

Thank you David! The youtube transcript is not accurate, my fast talk and randomness doesn’t make it easier either! Thank you so much for the resource! I will check it out!

I am so glad to see that more people are understand how and why Closed Captions are so great. I also understand that longer videos with multiple speakers may not be worth the time, but I always try to use the CC’s on my short videos.

I just type out the scripts on a Word doc and paste that into a Notepad and upload. Youtube has gotten really good at timing the words out. however Youtube is NOT so good at doing their own transcripts from speech. I have see some very scary CC when they used the auto text. LOL

Sheryl!

Thank you so much for your comment! You are so right! YouTube CC are so bad! I laugh every time I read them from my videos! lol That’s a good idea! Just type them up, and do you paste them line for line into youtube? I’m curious!

Hope to see you here again! Have a great weekend!
